What Makes us Special

St Teresa’s School is a warm, values-driven Catholic girls’ school, where every girl is truly known, supported, and inspired to learn, grow and thrive. With a strong 95-year heritage, exceptional teachers, and a holistic approach to academic, emotional, social, and spiritual development, St Teresa’s School offers:

  • One continuous journey from Grade 000 (age 3) to Matric.
  • A sisterhood where girls grow in confidence, compassion, and courage, becoming young women of purpose who make a meaningful difference in the world.
  • A holistic experience: outstanding academics, well-being support, pastoral care, and values-based education.
  • Exceptional teachers who personally know each girl and encourage her in her strengths to thrive in school and beyond Grade 12.
  • Rich opportunities in sport, culture, leadership, and outreach, ensuring well-rounded growth.
  • A caring, inclusive community shaped by Mercy values, where girls grow in confidence, character, and faith.

Our Past, Present and Future

  • St Teresa’s School has a rich heritage that began in 1930, when the Sisters of Mercy welcomed five pupils into a small garage on Keyes Avenue. Rooted in Catherine McAuley’s vision of compassion, courage and service, our past is defined by faith, resilience and a commitment to educating girls with purpose, including being one of the first schools to defy Apartheid laws and admit students of all races.
  • Today, our school continues to flourish as a warm, inclusive community where every girl is known and nurtured. Across our three campuses (Grades 000-12), exceptional teachers, holistic well-being support, and a values-driven culture empower students to learn, grow and thrive in a rapidly changing world.
  • Looking to the future, St Teresa’s School remains committed to innovation, excellence and relevance. We continue to evolve our academic programmes, well-being initiatives, and leadership opportunities to equip young women with the skills, confidence, and compassion needed to shape a better, more just world. Our journey is one of continuity, honouring our past, thriving in the present, and building a future worthy of the women who will lead it.

A word from our School Principal

“We have grown into a family of community – one strengthened by our Parents, Principals and Staff, the Parents Teachers Association (PTA), our Priests and blessed Sisters, all of whom remain devoted to the Mercy values and to nurturing the values of service, faith, integrity, compassion and personal excellence enriched in every one of our “Rosies”.” – Mark Kalil, Chairperson of the Board of Governors (St Teresa’s School)
