What Makes us Special

Brescia House School is an independent Catholic day school for girls, situated in the heart of Bryanston.

  • Established in 1966, Brescia House School is proud to be a part of a worldwide Ursuline network of schools who collaborate in a Global Education Programme.
  • The motto of the school, ‘Serviam’ means ‘I will serve’, and a spirit of service to the community is encouraged.
  • In the 2024 matric examinations, the school once again achieved a 100% pass rate, and our students consistently achieve a 100% University Degree pass rate.
  • Facilities include heated swimming pools, a multi-purpose astro, a mini astro and eight tennis/netball courts.
  • Sporting activities include swimming, diving, artistic swimming, hockey, netball, soccer, athletics, tennis, cross country, and orienteering. Off-campus, students can participate in the school equestrian team, and a CrossFit ProForm programme.
  • The Brescia House School Music Institute allows for further diversification into the music realm beyond the traditional curriculum.
  • Cultural activities include public speaking, TED Talks, debating, global affairs, photography, cooking club, drama, chess, choir, and music.
  • Brescia House School has been identified as a Microsoft Showcase School since 2013, with most of teaching staff being accredited as Microsoft Innovative Educators.

Our Past, Present and Future

  • On 26 January 1966, Brescia House School opened its doors for the first time. Mother Xavier Rowntree, the Foundress, envisioned a centre of learning where enterprise, initiative, and personal and social responsibility would flourish, grounded in true Christian principles. These ideals continue to guide all who teach and learn within our community.
  • Brescia House School is part of a worldwide Ursuline network, dedicated to educating young women in a way that nurtures their vision, confidence, and capacity to contribute meaningfully on a global stage. Through the Ursuline Global Education Programme, our pupils connect with Ursuline students around the world, exchanging ideas, forming networks, and gaining valuable international exposure.
  • Innovation is a hallmark of Brescia House School. We offer forward-thinking IT training, equipping girls with the digital fluency needed for an increasingly complex world. Mobile and cloud technologies are embedded in daily learning, preparing our students for future academic and workplace success.
  • At the same time, we remain deeply committed to balancing tradition with innovation, ensuring that each strengthens the other. Our aim is to nurture mature, empathetic, and responsible young women ready to take their rightful place in society.
  • Our newest addition, Brescia Bears, provides an intentionally designed “home away from home” for 3–5-year-olds, with creative ateliers, vibrant classrooms, and outdoor spaces for exploration and growth.
  • The strong bond between past and present pupils reflects our enduring sense of community and sisterhood — a true testament to the saying, “Once a Brescia girl, always a Brescia girl.”
  • We look forward to celebrating 60 years of Brescia House School as we mark our jubilee in 2026.

A word from our School Principal

A word from our Principals: To belong to Brescia House School is to be called to live the Ursuline values of caring, strength in unity, and relationships built on love and charity, all in the spirit of Serviam – to serve God. These values are not just words; they shape who we are and how we walk together as a community. Every smile, every act of kindness, every shared success reflects our commitment to something higher: a life of service, rooted in faith and love.
