What Makes us Special

At McAuley House, our motto, Vincit Veritas, guides all that we do. Rooted in our Mercy heritage, we form young people who pursue truth with integrity, compassion, and courage.

We offer a nurturing small-school environment where every child is known, valued, and supported as an individual.

McAuley House is co-educational from Grade R to Grade 7, with a dedicated All-Girls High School from Grade 8 to Grade 12.

We provide quality independent education at accessible and responsible fee levels across all grades, ensuring strong value for families seeking Catholic education.

Our holistic approach nurtures spiritual, physical, emotional, and intellectual growth. A wide range of sport and cultural activities complements a strong academic programme, while a diverse and inclusive community encourages respect and mutual enrichment.

As a Catholic school, we promote spiritual development within each learner’s faith journey. Regular Masses, prayer, meditation, and student-led faith initiatives form an integral part of school life.

Our values: Faith, Respect, Tolerance, Justice, Loyalty, Truth, Mercy, Compassion, and Excellence, anchor everything we do.

With a strong academic record, fully qualified educators, and dedicated academic and emotional support, including an on-site Social Worker, McAuley House forms young people grounded in truth and prepared to contribute meaningfully to society.

Our Past, Present and Future

  • Mercy Heritage Since 1907:
Founded in 1907, McAuley House proudly continues a long-standing Mercy tradition of faith, excellence, and service. Guided by Vincit Veritas-Truth Conquers, we honour our past while preparing learners confidently for the future.
  • Spiritual Centre of School Life:
The School Chapel is the heart of our community. It is where class Masses are celebrated, the Faith Committee gathers, and prayer and meditation sessions take place. It is also a place of reflection, celebration, and solace for our learners.
  • Vibrant Cultural Life:
Our renowned Choir and Marimba Band reflect the rich musical tradition and talent within our school community.
  • Opportunities Beyond the Classroom:
We actively develop opportunities beyond the campus, with learners participating in the Johannesburg Junior City Council, Junior Achievement South Africa (JASA), the Wits Integrated Experience, and the MIT Global Teaching Labs.
  • Investing in the Future:
Ongoing upgrades to facilities ensure that we meet the evolving academic and co-curricular needs of our learners.
  • Strong and Stable Leadership:
A dedicated Management Team and Board of Governors provide compassionate yet decisive leadership, ensuring continued growth and sustainability.

A word from our School Principal

A Principal carries the responsibility of educating for a world that exists beyond the school walls. It gives me great pride to be the Principal of McAuley House, where our students carry themselves with dignity and humility, and leave our campus prepared to make a difference in their communities and to carry the Mercy legacy into society at large.
