What Makes us Special

St Dominic’s is a proud girls’ school with a rich heritage of excellence dating back to 1923. Rooted first and foremost in our identity as a practising Dominican Catholic school, we strive to live the values of faith, compassion, service and truth in everything we do.

While we are a girls’ school, we do welcome boys in our 2-year-old class only, offering families a warm and nurturing introduction to our community. From the earliest years through to matric, our focus remains firmly on the child – recognising each learner as a unique individual with her own gifts, potential and dreams.

St Dominic’s is a non-profit organisation, and every decision we make is guided by what is best for our learners. We offer a wide range of sporting and cultural activities, ensuring a balanced and enriching school experience beyond the classroom.

St Dominic’s is known as a school of excellence. We are immensely proud of our consistent 100% IEB matric pass rate, a testament to the dedication of our teachers and the commitment of our learners. Our tradition of high standards, combined with a caring, values-based environment, equips our girls not only for academic success, but for meaningful lives of purpose and service.

At St Dominic’s, we educate the mind, nurture the heart and inspire our girls to become women who make a difference in the world.

Our Past, Present and Future

  • Founded 103 years ago, St Dominic’s was established with a clear and purposeful vision: to educate young minds in the light of faith and to draw children closer to God. This Dominican Catholic foundation remains the heart of who we are today.
  • Our past is rich in tradition, built on values of truth, compassion, service and excellence. Generations of learners have walked our corridors, shaped not only academically, but spiritually, carrying with them the principles instilled within our school walls.
  • In the present, St Dominic’s stands proudly as a school that honours its heritage while embracing innovation. Our classrooms are vibrant spaces of enquiry, creativity and growth, where learners are encouraged to think critically, act courageously and live faithfully. We are recognised as leaders in future-focused education, ensuring that our girls are prepared for a world that is constantly changing, without ever losing sight of what truly matters.
  • Looking to the future, we continue to evolve – adopting modern teaching methods, technology and programmes – while remaining steadfast in our mission to bring each child closer to God. Our journey is one of balance: respecting the wisdom of our past, responding thoughtfully to the needs of the present, and shaping confident, compassionate women for tomorrow.

A word from our School Principal

As a Catholic school, our ethos is rooted in the belief that all human values find their unity and fulfilment in Christ. These values are lived each day. Although we encourage your daughter to reach her full potential in every field, she will be accepted for who she is, not for what she achieves. Mr Loring – Headmaster
